Interview Crash Course

Are you a Year 13/Gap-year student, who has applied for either Medicine or Dentistry? Join us for an engaging and completely free half-day Interview Prep Crash Course!

This exclusive event is designed to help you refine your interview skills with Mock Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) practice stations. You’ll experience realistic simulations of MMI stations, carefully designed to mirror the actual interview environment. You can gain invaluable constructive feedback from current university students to identify your strengths, address weaknesses, and enhance your performance.

Additionally, the event includes a comprehensive lecture teaching session with practical tips and expert guidance to help you excel in your medicine or dentistry interviews.

Date: Saturday 30th November 2024

Location: King’s College London. Guy’s Campus, SE1 1UL (nearest train station is: London Bridge Station).

Schedule:

Morning Slot: 09:30 - 12:30

Afternoon Slot: 13:00 - 16:00

Choose between:

  • MMI + Lecture slots: Limited spaces available on a first-come-first-served basis for participants meeting widening participation (WP) criteria.

  • Lecture-only slots: Open to all students, with the possibility of gaining a practice slot if there are no-shows on the day.

Widening Participation Criteria:

  • Attending a non-selective state school, since the age of 11. A non-selective state school is publicly funded, does not charge tuition fees, and does not require entrance exams and/or admission interviews.

  • Free-School Meals

  • Young carer, Care-experienced or Estranged student

This event is made possible through the Empathos Foundation charity in collaboration with KCL student societies. We're excited to offer this unique opportunity to support aspiring healthcare professionals like you, this event will be held at an accessible venue and is open to all aspiring students! Please also bring any relevant medications with you (e.g. inhalers, epipen). Please wear smart casual attire, where possible.

To ensure a smooth and organised event, we kindly request all participants to arrive strictly on time, registrations open 15 minutes before your time slot. We recommend individuals arrive early, giving you time to settle in and prepare for the day. Please note that latecomers may not be permitted entry, as this will be at the discretion of the event leads. We encourage you to plan your journey accordingly and allow sufficient time for any unexpected delays - the closest train station is London Bridge.

Important: Sign-ups will close on Thursday 28th November at 20:00. After signing up, please check your emails (& junk mail) for your order confirmation. You must have and bring a valid school ID. All updates will be sent via email and on our Instagram story: @empathosfoundation.

Please note that while we strive to ensure a safe and enjoyable event, we are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur during the course of the activities. Participants are advised to take necessary precautions and act responsibly throughout the event. All volunteers will have the necessary safeguarding training prior to attending. This event is not affiliated with KCL.

If you sign up multiple times, submit an incomplete form, or have previously registered for an Empathos event but did not attend, your ticket will be invalidated. Please contact us if you have any queries before purchasing a ticket. As we have limited practice opportunities, these will be on a first-come-first-serve basis as long as you meet one of the widening participation criteria. For those who don’t meet any of the WP criteria or if the slots have filled up, we will have lecture-only spaces available and if there are ‘no-shows’ the interview spaces will be allocated to those on the day. You can only sign up for an MMI practice slot if you are in year 13. If you are in Year 12 and would like to gain insight, you can attend a lecture-only slot.

Data Privacy: Your data will be processed in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR). Anonymised results may be utilised for research purposes to enhance medical education (e.g., publications and poster presentations). Media may be taken during the session for social media; by completing the form, you agree with this.

  1. Parental/legal guardian Permission: By signing up for this event, you are confirming that you are either the parent/legal guardian or have the permission and consent of a parent/legal guardian to attend the event.

  2. Event Registration and Communication: By signing up for this event, you agree to receive marketing emails related to the event and future activities organised by us. If you do not wish to receive these communications, you may opt-out at any time by letting us know. 

  3. Photography and Media Consent: By attending this event, you consent to being photographed and/or filmed, with these images potentially being used for promotional and social media purposes. If you do not wish to appear in any photographs or media content, you must notify us via email info@empathos.co.uk before the event.

  4. Non-Attendance: If you are no longer able to attend the event, please notify us as soon as possible via email at info@empathos.co.uk so that we can make the necessary arrangements. Please also try to attend the event on-time. 

  5. Code of Conduct/Behaviour All attendees are expected to behave professionally and respectfully throughout the event. We reserve the right to ask any participant to leave the event if they are acting inappropriately, at our discretion. We will have a briefing at the start of the event and the start of each activity. 

  6. Commitment to Attendance By signing up, you agree to attend the full programme of the event. We kindly request that you arrive on time and remain present for the duration of the event to ensure a productive experience for yourself and other participants.
